Strategic Leadership

Giles & Company prepares research, analysis, and disposition strategies for financial institutions and corporations. We develop plans, lead implementation programs, and prepare road maps for corporations and financial institutions to enhance business operations, improve credit procedures, and infuse additional capital. We work in the capacity of team leader or team member. Examples of projects include:

  • Federal Regulators and Banks - Developed strategies and processes to stabilize credit, work out failing banks and dispose of properties, and/or infuse investment capital into institutions or properties. Analyzed portfolios for credit weakness and prepared market programs to dispose of troubled real estate. Provided detailed presentations to investor groups for the purchase of portfolios and prepared strategic business plans for disposition of institutions and properties. Our due diligence and disposition strategies led to the successful workout of over $2.0 billion in commercial loans for individual banks.

  • Fortune 500 Company - Prepared research, analysis, and led teams of accountants and attorneys to develop annual strategic business plans and global account planning for the Executive Team in the development of annual financial plans.

  • Two Large State Pension Funds – Developed the operational audit process with Best Practices and conducted operational audits for all management companies overseeing the funds’ real estate assets.

  • Large State Fund - Prepared the policies and procedures outlining how this fund would operate and what the detailed reporting processes would be. Developed capital markets programs and portfolio strategies that led to the successful on-going operation of this fund.



Business Development

We work closely with sales and marketing teams to penetrate investor markets for acquisition of capital, penetration into the sales channels, and on-going account planning. Samples of projects are:

  • Large Technology Company - Worked closely with the sales teams to prepare the business development program for global accounts. The program led to definitive sales goals and quotas, a program strategy, and tools to measure quarterly and annual progress.
  • Small Technology Group – Worked with the sales and marketing team to prepare the business plan that led to the sale of the company. We assisted the Executives in preparing the exit strategy.

  • Small Start-up Firm - Assisted the Executive Team in preparing the annual business plan and developed the strategy to raise funds. Worked with the team to deliver the presentation to investors. We raised seed capital, angel and venture funds. Our work enabled the firm to begin production of their product line.

Operational/Organization Planning

We form and assist cross-functional teams to implement financial and operation programs. Some typical projects include:

  • Large Financial Institution - Managed the on-going operations for a large asset and worked closely with the legal and accounting groups to prepare the exit strategy. Our work led to the direct sale of the asset at the full asking price.

  • Large Retail Corporation - Worked with the accounting team and prepared an operational plan for the company. The final plan resulted in the retail company downsizing and successfully disposing of select retail sites.

  • Several Large Companies - Formed and led cross-functional teams to implement marketing programs. Our work resulted in the production of quality packaging and advertising programs.

  • Large Pension Fund - Combined accounting and real estate teams to implement new strategies for purchase and disposition of assets. Through our assistance, this fund changed its investment direction.

  • Federal Regulator – Led and managed the multiple teams to close down financial institutions. Team members conducted audits to determine the status of the bank loan defaults. Worked with the auditors to define the ongoing default issues and identify loans that could be sold immediately. Prepared varied exit strategies for large portfolios of loans. In other areas, provided portfolio analysis, packaging, and litigation support in the takeover, disposition, and successful litigation with other savings banks.
